Spam: I Love to Smoke

Hi Zealot,   While writing this e-mail to you, I'm not totally sure what I'm trying to say with this video, but I did have fun doing it.  I got to buy cigarettes at the liquor store for about $4.50, and they gave me a free book of matches with them.  I felt like such an adult, and they didn't even ask for id.   I asked for their cheapest cigarettes, and they came in a box that said "RAVE" on it, so I thought that was pretty neat to have a box that said "RAVE" because, well, I guess I like words and the idea of buying rave strikes me as being pretty neat.  I asked for a smaller pack, but that's the smallest they came in, a pack of i don't know, 24 or 18.   Since I've been doing these freakin' videos, or because or after doing these videos, i start thinking about the visual world more than before, and i ponder the notion of image and rock and roll and "coolness", "hipness", messages, and selling.   I Love To Smoke     Love Always,   Paulette

Dear Unadulterated Paulette Fan,   If I had I dime for every time somebody said to me, "Hey, Paulette, Do you have any houseplants, and if so what do they look like and what kinds are they?" I'd be unbearably wealthy, so wealthy that if I were a country, I could afford to subsidize health care like i subsidized oil companies and failing banks and failing automobile corporations.   So I decided to share my life with people i don't know by making this video, Paulette's Plant Tour 2010, with the help of the Oakland Arts Council and my indisposable interns here at Paulette International.  I hope that the video fosters a misunderstanding free understanding between people of all nations, bicycle races, cultures, subways, schools, body positions, body types, shoe sizes, eyebrow shapes and sock thicknesses throughout the world.   I hope you have as much fun watching it as i had making it, even though it took every scrap of energy I had left over after climbing K2 without oxygen and after building 50 schools in Pakistan, Oakland and Afghanistan.   Paulette's Plant Tour 2010   Love Always   Paulette
